Talking pictures

On BBC Radio 4 there is a short programme with Eamonn McCabe talking about some of his favourite photographs.
Eamonn was a great sports photographer, and also became the picture editor for the Guardian newspaper and produced many portraits for that newspaper.
This radio programme is good because we hear someone talking about photographs, which is a difficult thing to do.

First there is a description of the photograph - a straight-forward description of what the photograph shows. (Useful on a radio programme)
There are facts too. Who took it, where and when.
Then Eamonn discusses it. He may describe it further, or he might say what it means to him and why he likes it. He may talk about the technique of producing the picture. Also there are some quotes from the photographer who made the picture - useful comments that help us to understand it a bit better.

This is what photographic research is all about. Go and listen to the programme...
