Creative and experimental image making techniques can occur through camera control, when printing in the darkroom, or by toning the print. It is also possible to create many techniques in Photoshop – the digital darkroom.
In this unit you will be trying some traditional and some digital creative techniques. Many of these techniques were discovered by people making mistakes, but liking the result and repeating it.
You will be collecting examples of creative imaging techniques into a scrapbook, comparing them with your own pictures, and describing the techniques.

· Step 1 for any new project is to start looking at examples of the techniques. Start a scrapbook and collect two examples of each of these techniques:
Fast shutter speed in sport or action photography
Filters eg star burst, graduate, soft focus, red (in black and white photography), sepia, polarizer filters
An image printed through a texture screen, or using a texture Photoshop layer
Double exposure, and some more double exposure
Solarisation and some more solarisation
