Creative Image Making Techniques

Creative and experimental photo techniques can happen by camera control, when printing in the darkroom, or by toning the print afterwards. It is also possible to create many techniques in Photoshop.
In this unit you will be experimenting creative techniques.
These can be done digitally, but you may also try them in the darkroom if you like.
Many of these techniques were discovered by people making mistakes, but liking the result and repeating it. You have already tried some of these techniques in Block 1.
You will create a portfolio of prints that show an example of each of your creative techniques.
You need to collect examples of creative imaging techniques into a scrapbook, comparing them with the photographs that you take, and describe the techniques.
· Step 1: For any new project the first step is to start looking at examples of the techniques. Start a scrapbook and collect two examples of each of these techniques. I have looked for a few links to get you going:
Lens zooming during exposure
Fast shutter speed in sport or action photography
Filters eg star burst, graduate, soft focus, red (in black and white photography), sepia, polarizer filters
An image printed through a texture screen, or using a texture Photoshop layer
Print toning, using sepia, selenium, or even tea.
