Here's the good
news: If you have been taking part in the NC Photography course, you will have
already been producing and presenting portfolios of your photographs.
For example,
the Pressure Project, the Winter Light project, the Higher project crits, and a
folio for HNC interview.
You will also be producing a folio of Creative Image Making Techniques too.

When a
photographer prepares a portfolio, they need to decide:
·
Who is the audience
·
What is that audience interested in
·
How many pictures to include
·
What kind of pictures to include
·
What order to put them in
·
How big to print them
·
How to print them
·
How to present them
·
How much will it cost
·
Where to find the materials
·
What do other photographers do

Answer these points:
What crits and
presentations did you actively take part in, by showing and discussing your
work?
Describe the portfolios
that you have created.
Describe two different
audiences for these portfolios, eg external assessor, HNC interview, class
colleagues.
What are you trying to
show to the different audiences? What do they need to see?
How many pictures have
you included, and what decisions did you make about quantity, order, style of
picture.
If you have shown a
portfolio to an audience, would you make any changes to the folio eg reduce the
number, change the order, change the print size?
How did you print and
present your portfolio?
Describe an alternative
method of preparing a portfolio eg Blurb book, Loxley print and folio, DS
colour labs, Silverprint, a slideshow
How much does it cost
to create two different styles of portfolio?
Show examples of
portfolio solutions from photographers like Brooks Jensen or from
suppliers eg Printspace, Spectrum, Loxleys, Shortcourses.com
How does your folio and
photography compare to the folio you brought to NC interview last year?
